He left Zenon Łakomy – Sports Review

He died outstanding szczypiornista Zenon Łakomy. – He was a fanatic handball. About this sport you could talk to him for hours – recalls a colleague Marek Panas.

Polish handball suffered an unexpected and great loss. In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday he died suddenly Zenon Łakomy. He was 65 years. As szczypiornista greatest achievements came in the colors of Stal Mielec, which won the 1975 runners-up of the country and reached the Polish Cup (1971). The national team played 25 matches, scored 4 goals. In 1975, he was pleased with the bronze medal Academic World Cup. After retiring he became famous as a coach of women’s and men’s clubs. He led the championship Polish handball players Pogon Szczecin (1983). He was also a handball coach Pursuit (PP 1987), Orlen Plock (silver MP and national Cup 2001), Brave Glogow and Zaglebie Lubin (silver MP 2005). He also worked with German clubs (including the Schwerin and Minden). In the years 1986-90 was the coach of Polish men, with whom he won the 11th place in the World Cup group A in Czechoslovakia in 1990. In 2006 he took over the women’s squad. Under his leadership red and white took the 8th position in the Championship 2006 in Sweden and 11 in the 2007 World Cup in France. Unfortunately, in 2008, Polish women have not qualified for the Olympic tournament in Beijing and for the finals of European Championships in Macedonia, and therefore resigned. – He was a fanatic handball. About this sport you could talk to him for hours. He was one of the trainers, which I have the honor to chair. Difficult to believe that he is not among us. We knew each other for over 40 years – says his younger colleague Siegfried Kuchta, bronze medalist of the Olympics in Montreal in 1976.

few weeks ago Zenon Łakomy acted as expert studies Polsat Sport at ME handball players held in Poland. – A few days ago we talked and Zenek concocting all sorts of plans … Unfortunately, I do not meet – said the former Polish representative Marek Panas.
