The US, Russia, Iran and Poland – was supposed to be a group of death in this year’s edition of the World League intercontinental phase. Volleyball Stephane Antiga, as befits the world champions, showed up with a very good side. On 12 matches they lost only four times and ranked on the 2nd place, behind the Americans. As a result, the eighth time in the history advanced to the final round.
In Rio de Janeiro Poles they defeated the Italians 3: 1 and lost to the Serbs 2: 3, even though it still managed to finish first in the group and to qualify for the medal zone – only the fifth time in history. 2005: The BELGRADE, FOURTH PLACE
This is probably one of the most memorable natural white and red. Before that, the Poles played as the notes in the semi-final against hosts Serbia and Montenegro. The team led by Raul Lozano fared well with both fanatical doping, as well as a brilliant Ivan Milijkoviciem. The first two sets won to 23, and in the third we were already running 22:17. Then a miracle happened. Unfortunately, the authors were Serbs who have won this installment to 20.
Poles for a long time could not recover. He worked famous maxim: Who does not win 3: 0, leading 2: 0, the losing 2: 3. The defeat clearly slashed their wings, because in the match for the bronze did not give advice Cubans, losing by the same margin.
2007: KATOWICE, FOURTH PLACE
It is equally memorable edition for white and red. 2011: The GDANSK / SOPOT, THIRD PLACE
It was only the third finals race in Poland, white-red managed to win a medal – the first in the history of LŚ. In the semifinals Andrea Anastasi team did not have much chance against Russia and lost 1: 3, and the 150th match in the scene unfolded Piotr Gruszka, who participated in all previous finals LŚ involving white and red.
