The elite will enter the top 12 teams in this year’s World League: winner of France and Serbia, United States, Poland, Brazil, Italy, Iran, Australia, Russia, Bulgaria, Argentina and Belgium.
Extending the elite eight to twelve teams means that a drop to second division last escape in previous competitions Russia. On the other hand, they were promoted to the first division – in addition to the groundbreaking France (started last season from second division) also Argentina, Belgium and Bulgaria.
Total number of participants LŚ 2016 will increase from 28 to 32 countries that will be divided into two divisions of 12 teams and one of eight teams.
2. Division will consist of 12 teams, which in this year’s World League took place 13-24. These include Japan, the Netherlands, Canada, Finland, Czech Republic, Cuba, South Korea, Portugal, Egypt, Turkey, Slovakia and China. The last four of these are the best teams 3. Division LS 2015.
Because of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro all World League matches will be played over five weeks between 17 June and 17 July.
Final Six unchanged
The meetings in three tournaments group 1. division will be held on dates – June 17-19, June 24-26 and July 1-3. In the first of these tournaments white-and-reds will play in Russia from Serbia, Bulgaria and hosts, in the second (home) – with France, Argentina and Russia, and the third in France – with “tri-color”, Brazil and Belgium.
In the final, the first division will be attended by six teams (the top five teams and host), divided as before into two groups of three teams.
The final tournament hosts will be selected and announced at a later date. The Division 3 has not yet been announced.
In the competition of this year’s World League Poland advanced to the finals in Brazil and there took fourth place, losing the match for the bronze with the Americans 0: 3. In the final, France defeated Serbia 3: 0.
Poles for the last time on the podium of the World League of steel in 2012, when Sofia only once triumphed.
