World Cup speed skating: successful competition of Poles in Heerenveen – Onet.pl

Szymanski (AZS AWF Katowice) won the competition for the second time in a row, after the triumph in Berlin last week. On Sunday, with the time 1.45,92 and 0.3 seconds ahead of Dutchman Wouter Olde Heuvel. Third was American Shani Davis.

Konrad Niedźwiedzki (AZS AWF Katowice) finished sixth with a time of 0.78 s worse than the winner, while the eighth Zbigniew Chin (UKS Lightning), Olympic champion at this distance, lost 1.14 s.

Szymanski took the lead in the overall standings of the cycle. Amassed 261 points and five ahead of Dutchman Kjeld Nuis. Niedźwiedzki is seventh with 166 achievements, and Chin – 12 of 108 points.

In the women’s competition at the Luiza Zlotkowska this distance (Sparta Grodzisk Mazowiecki) was 12th and Katarzyna Wozniak (AZS AWF Katowice) took 15th place. American Heather Richardson triumphed, also the best 500-meter Sunday.

The Waś (LKS Poroniec Poronin) was second on Sunday and Friday. Each time was inferior only Russian leader Paul Kuliżnikowa World Cup.

On Sunday Waś rode in the penultimate hand and time 34.87 s took the lead. Later, however, he took Kuliżnikow them to give a better result by 0.29 seconds. Third place went to Dutchman Jan Smeekens.

On Saturday, well presented also red and white composed Złotkowska, Aleksandra Wozniak and Goss (WTL Stegny Warsaw). To the representation of the winning team lost 2.62 s, and the German women – 0.35 s.

Professions Heerenveen were the last of the season, which was played Team competition. White-red in the general classification were also third and qualified for the World Cup distances.
