Multimedalistka Olympic and world cross-country skiing Norwegian Marit Bjoergen withdrew from the launch in the national championship on 31 March – 3 April because of hip injury.
According to the doctors to return to intensive training after the birth on December 26 was perhaps too fast.
Bjoergen started training already three weeks after the birth. Then, on March 12, started in the course of her name, “Marit Bjoergen Rennet” in the family Rognes, and on March 16th in the sprint in Sarpsborg. She planned to start at distances of 5 and 30 km free technique in the second part of the championship Norway in Beitostoelen this weekend, but while running training on Sunday, strained muscles of the hips.
– The muscle strain occurred during a long run on uneven terrain. Start in the national championship would be in this situation too burdensome. We prefer to approach the injury carefully, so that Marit could begin the normal preparation for the season in mid-May – explained team doctor Fredrik S. Bendiksen.
runner received a detailed program of rehabilitation-training.
– These are simple but light running and pushing a stroller with a child uphill, which will definitely make Marit pleasure – said Bendiksen.
