Oslo is likely to withdraw its bid to host the Winter Olympics in 2022 years. In Wednesday’s vote, the ruling party voted against funding the event. The host status still apply Almaty and Beijing.
The Norwegians won the most medals in the history of the Winter Olympics, and the country hosted the Olympics twice. This time they promised to organize an event for approx. Five billion U.S. dollars – 10 times less than the cost of this year’s Olympics in Sochi. Politicians fear, however, that this amount of time will increase significantly.
– Members of the Conservative Party are divided and can not support the Olympics in Oslo. Therefore, we conclude the withdrawal of candidature – said one of the MPs Trond Helleland.
