World Cup: King Sagan! – Portal.bikeworld.pl

Sagan conducted an amazing attack which his rivals were unable to cope. On a small downhill to the finish and the final meters uphill from Slovakia maintained its advantage and finished unthreatened, ahead of Michael Matthews (Australia) and ramūnas navardauskas (Lithuania). 8. The place was retiring former World Champion, Michal Kwiatkowski (Poland), who finished in the first group pursuit. At the same, a dozen or so group that lost to Sagan three seconds, finishing among others Alexander Kristoff (Norway) who was fourth, followed by Alejandro Valverde finishes (Spain) and Simon Gerrans (Australia). 10th place went to Philippe Gilbert (Belgium) and his compatriots – Greg Van Avermaet and Tom Boonen, very active during the race were respectively 23 and 35.

Slovak his victory owes a strong ride in the final and the attack on the penultimate climb. Previously, however, Sagan was almost completely invisible, but despite the lack of strong support team, rode warily behind her rivals. At the decisive moment, however, it was where it should be, controlling the actions of rivals, but when they were already very tired, dealt the final blow. He stretched tight in the driveway rate, and at the congress drove away, using its outstanding downhill skills. To finish maintained a slight advantage, and on the dash could no longer throw off all the pressure that accompanied him throughout last season, when the award was the second. Saxo-Tinkoff cyclist at the finish line did not hide his joy, “throwing” his bike steward, handing out fans to his helmet, goggles and gloves, and finally fell into the arms of his fiancée.

A very good race played Poles, although only 8 places Kwiatkowski. The former World Champion was constantly supported by his colleagues, and in the most important moments was driving near the top, responding to more serious attacks. Three rounds before the end Kwiatkowski himself initiated the departure, and it seemed for a moment that a very strong group of the Pole will reach the finish line. A small advantage, however, did not allow them reaching the finish line, and then Kwiatkowski no longer had the strength to respond to the attack Sagan. Nevertheless, the group remained in pursuit, then he finished on a high 8th place.

The other representatives of the Polish, who throughout the race rode very actively working on Kwiatkowski checked into the host group. Thomas Marczyński was 39, Michal Golas 54. Maciej Paterski 59. Rafal Majka, who arrived in the second group was 74, whereas Maciej Bodnar withdrew from the competition for a few laps before the finish.

Race World Championship began in good weather, despite earlier announcements rain. A large peloton calmly hit the road around Richmond, traveling widely bench but a few kilometers after the start began attacks. Conor Dunne (Ireland) gave the signal for battle, and behind him walked Andriy Khripta (Ukraine), Jesse Sergent (New Zealand), Ivan Stevic (Serbia), Park Sung Baek (Korea), and later Sergei Ţvetcov (Romania), Yauheni Hutarovich (Belarus), Ben King (USA) and Carlos Alzate (Colombia). Headlamp, traditionally at the World Cup, quickly gained the upper hand and could enjoy a long running at the head of the race, but the difference between the two groups was not exceptionally large.

For 14 laps and nearly 230 km before the finish line escape was still more than four minutes ahead of the peloton, in which the pace dictated Dutch, and behind them vigilantly rode riders Spain and Belgium, as well as the Polish national team, the defending World Champion Michal Kwiatkowski . Stretched the peloton did not allow the refugees to too much freedom, trying to keep the distance to the fleeing groups. Gradually forward moves also Poles, Maciej Bodnar, at the helm. Michal Kwiatkowski was also close to the crest on the cobblestone driveways at the end of the round, and at 170 kilometers before the finish line already all white and red tights could be seen ahead of the pack.

The peloton steadily reduced the gap to the escapees and 8 laps to the end he lost only 2 minutes. Now it is again the Dutch took the brunt of dictating the pace in the main group, while one of the other ramps – at less than 120 kilometers before the finish – headlamp depleted to five riders – Sergent, King Alzate, Dunne and Ţvetcov. Poles were visible again – at the head of the group Rafal Majka safely conducted on a paved driveway Kwiatkowski, and the rest of our representatives drove a little further. When the finish line was left only six laps, and the peloton had already refugees in sight, a group of strongly basic began to tear, and before the peloton rode two dozen or so groups. In the forefront were Majka and Maciej Paterski, a dozen seconds away, in the peloton, riding Kwiatkowski, but both he and the other favorites, not panicked.

The Dutch dictated a strong pace in the first group, supported by the Spaniards, and soon they charged the original escape. M.in then attacked Robert Gesink (Netherlands) and Luis Mas Bonet (Spain), but both attacks have not been successful, a moment later, the two groups merged and the peloton was riding together again, and the race began anew. Then he attacked Alex Dowsett (Great Britain), but – as before – none of the attacks could not stand long. Tom Boonen (Belgium) reminded himself to brukach, but immediately was at the wheel Kwiatkowski. Then again, the Belgians and the Dutch were leading the charge, with the Poles few dozen of items on. Jarlinson Pantano (Colombia), Guillaume Boivin (Canada), Kanstantin Suitsou (Belarus) and Taylor Phinney (USA) have created another escape for 78 kilometers before the finish.

In the next paved driveway attacked Sep Vanmarcke (Belgium), and behind him walked Ian Stannard (Great Britain), Daniele Bennati (Italy) and Simon Geschke (Germany) and four laps before the end chased for three – already without the Pantano – leaders, but to no avail. Then Gediminas Bagdonas (Lithuania) moved forward in pursuit of the leaders, and the pursuit riders in the peloton led Germany. Behind them there was a large crash in the peloton – on the ground lay a few Spaniards, Colombians, Norwegians, as well as Majka, but our rider nothing happened and quickly got back on the bike. Three of the leaders, meanwhile, gained the upper hand, but the peloton behind her was not going to have one hundred percent. At 50 kilometers from the finish, on a small driveway on Governor Street, the last climb before the finish line, he attacked Joaquin Rodriguez (Spain), and a moment later the riders started from the end of the third lap. His attack tore the group, but briefly.

Roman Kreuziger (Czech Republic) led the pursuit of the leading trio, having on his back all already connected to the peloton. The advantage of the escapees then started to decline rapidly and was only 20 seconds, and when the cyclists had to finish 40 more kilometers on the route lightly sprinkled rain. 4 km further action three daredevils ended. Cobbled driveway at the head of the British began – Ben Swift and Ian Stannard, but this time Kwiatkowski already rode warily in third place.

When the driveway is just a Briton – Stannard – he moved forward. Wheel quickly jumped him, Tom Boonen (Belgium), Kwiatkowski, Bauke Mollema (Netherlands), Elia Viviani (Italy), Andrey Amador (Costa Rica) and Dani Moreno (Spain). The seven group, which now had a good chance of keeping you in front of the peloton, the penultimate lap began with kilkunastosekundową advantage and good cooperation gave them hope to fight for victory. However hard they chased Germany with Andre Greipel on the head of the train, though the Dutch, Belgians and Italians at any price they wanted to thwart the chasing.

More and less loss made the penultimate round of the driveway for used successive riders to join the leaders. Ten riders zasilił escape, but there was this group’s willingness to cooperate and the last lap began with the peloton on the back. Tom Dumoulin (Netherlands) and Vyacheslav Kuznetsov (Russia) briefly jumped to the front after starting lap, their attack improved several-group of Nelson Oliveira (Portugal), but at 12 kilometers from the finish they charged all Italians. One kilometer further attacked Kanstantin Siutsou (Belarus), and was joined by Tyler Farrar (USA). The two very hard working and has gained as much as 15 seconds, but 5 kilometers before the dash on the first of three climbs, were overtaken.

Now began the real battle for medals and the attack set off a race favorites. Zdenek Stybar (Czech Republic) firmly pressed the pedal on the pavement, but his rivals were very vigilant, not allowing him to meter freedom. Close drove John Degenkolb (Germany), further Greg Van Avermaet (Belgium) and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Norway), and behind them until now appeared Peter Sagan (Slovakia). Kwiatkowski was driving a dozen positions further. Stybar attack, though unsuccessful, pulled tight group. Decisive, however, it was another driveway – at 23rd Street. There, Van Avermaet attacked first, but quickly corrected him Sagan and drove off, leaving rivals illusions. Initially, the Slovak advantage was small, but at the congress, thanks to superior skill, was able to enlarge an advantage and the last drive began with several dozen advantage. Despite the grimace of pain on his face, cyclist, every day chasing the shirt Tinkoff-Saxo, pushing hard on the pedals and the final straight was already virtually unthreatened, and behind his back rivals could only fight for second place.

Sagan calmly crossed the line, and the pain on his face was replaced by a smile that turned into joy as soon as he dismounted from the bike. Moments before the fight for second place won by Michael Matthews (Australia), ahead ramūnas navardauskas (Lithuania).
