Investigation over. World Championships in Russia and Qatar, FIFA police detained activists – Onet.pl

At a specially convened press conference, FIFA Communications Director Walter De Gregorio answered questions from journalists. At the beginning stressed that “FIFA president Sepp Blatter is not subject to investigation. Easy cooperates with the Swiss police.”

On Friday, the elections were to be held FIFA president. For now, no changes were made not relating to postpone in view of the situation. – It’s a difficult moment for us, but that FIFA is injured. We do not plan to translate the Congress. Everything should be carried out according to plan – said De Gregorio.

According to earlier reports, the detainees were, among others: Jeffrey Webb of the Cayman Islands, deputy chairman of the executive committee, Eugenio Figueredo of Uruguay, who is chairman of the executive committee, and until recently he was vice president and president of CONMEBOL and Jack Warner from Trinidad and Tobago, former vice-president of FIFA. – We can not confirm the identity and the number of detainees. Until delegates have been proven allegations, we will not suspend anybody – said the Director of Communications.

At once appeared the question of whether the World Cup will be held as scheduled in Russia (2018) and Qatar (2022). – It is certain. There will be no changes – explained De Gregorio, who later surprised. – This situation is difficult for us, but good. It works against the image of FIFA, but it will clean structure. You may not believe in what I say, but there it is – he explained. – At the end of November we will publish a report on alleged corruption in the selection of World Cup hosts 2018 and 2022 – he added.

He also tried to loosen the atmosphere. – Action began at six in the morning. Nothing we did not know about it. If it were, I would put to bed earlier – said De Gregorio, who, however, was not amused.
